Dry scrubbing technology systems are employed in many industrial applications for power production and incineration, injecting lime or sodium bi-carbonate powder in an appropriate reactor or directly in a bag filter where the reaction takes place on the layer of powder + reagent cake on the filtering surface.
The injection of finely ground sodium bi-carbonate for the removal of exhaust gases containing acidic pollutants such as SOx and HCl presents a high efficiency, completely dry alternative for scrubbing. The primary advantages of this technology are the simplicity of the purification plant, low capital investment costs and high acid gas removal levels achievable. Conversely, the reagent costs are much higher.
