Marine DeNOx

Ecospray DeNOx systems for marine applications use SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to remove nitrogen oxides from diesel engines exhaust gas. Designed to meet demanding IMO Tier III emission levels and more – with up to 95% NOx reduction, these systems can be applied to commercial/navy vessels and superyachts.

In addition to the SCR system itself, Ecospray has experience in achieving EIAPP IMO Tier III certification of the engine plus the SCR from primary Classification Societies, leading design, drawing approval and testing process. Ecospray can pursue the approval path established by the IMO Tier III rules under Scheme A or Scheme B.


The ECO-NOx™ for marine applications is designed to be adapted to limited spaces on board and is suitable for propulsion engines and gensets from 1.6 MW to 16 MW, both for vertical and horizontal installation.
The NOx reduction process begins by injecting urea solution (33% or 40%) before the SCR reactor into the gas flow with proprietary self-cleaning urea spray nozzles. The gas and reagent mix passes through a variable number of catalyst layers, as it is appropriate for the required emission level.

Ecospray has developed a dedicated series of compact DeNOx SCRs for yacht, for propulsion engines and gensets from 150 KW to 4.3 MW, to meet the IMO Tier III requirements and fit space limitation onboard. The function of the silencer has been integrated to save additional space.
As a further enhancement, ECO-NOx™ SCR can embed also the particulate and soot removal function through the use of a catalytic dry filter.


ECO-TRIO™ DeNOx PLUS, specifically aimed at super-yachts, navy ships and small to medium sized ferries (for marine diesel engine from 150 to 4.300 kW), is a combined system which offers an all-in-one solution that achieves:

  • Removal of nitrogen oxide (DeNOx) within TIER III limits. If required, NOx removal over 95% is possible;
  • Effective reduction in soot and particles (> 95%) to prevent black smoke from the stack;
  • Excellent sound attenuation (typical noise attenuation from 30 to 40 dB);
  • Reduction of PAH and heavy metals up to 95% and odor[...]
